not to be ignored
2 minute read
We are as much shaped by the ideas and beliefs that colonise our minds as we are by the physical limitations of our reality.
'Japanese knotweed is not to be ignored!'
This was the sign on the van I passed today. It was a genius piece of marketing.
"Are you ignoring this message which is too important to ignore?"
"Are you aware of the consequences of not doing something about this?"
Japanese knotweed certainly is a problem. It spreads voraciously and perniciously. It's getting everywhere.
I knew I wouldn't see any on the way to the supermarket through the centre of town, but still, there I was, still looking. If I've had any Japanese not weed to get rid of, I certainly would've been giving them a call - because, well, as they say, it's too important to ignore.
The power of authority borne by the written word is generally harder to dispute. The books of Law hold their power because they are fixed in words that are held in books. Religions are built on scripts, and once upon a time, newspapers peddled their versions of the truth into the hearts and minds of the citizens of literate nations.
Is fair to say that many peoples minds now look past these institutions towards influencers on social media, although even there, there is a subtle authority in the subtitles and captions that accompany their spoken word.
Being aware of what draws your attention in life, of what is calling you to it, what is luring your attention, either to recognise a threat or an opportunity that aligns with your self-interest, won't necessarily change your reaction to it but it will offer you a choice to respond.
Remember. We are as much shaped by the ideas and beliefs that colonise our minds as we are by the physical limitations of our reality.
Be careful what you watch and what you read.
One of the key principles we invite people to investigate in the REVIVER program, and in the soon to be released book is that of focus. Your ability to maintain your attention and focus on those areas of your life that serve your truer calling or expression is ultimately what changes and shapes your quality of life for the better.
You can check out more details about The REVIVER Program here.
